Mac mini (Late 2005)

Introduced: September 2005
Terminated: February 2006

Description

The Mac mini (Late 2005) ran a PowerPC 7447A G5 processor.  It came in two configurations, the first ran at 1.33Ghz and had a 40Gb hard drive and the second ran at 1.5Ghz and had a 80Gb hard drive.  It was based on the motherboard used in the eMac and was only two inches tall and 6.5” wide and deep.

History

For a number of years all of Apple’s computers for the consumer market were all-in-ones that included a monitor.  The Mac mini broke with that, bringing in a new low-end Mac.  In spite of being oriented as a budget computer, the Mac mini had good features and a small, attractive design.

The Mac mini (Late 2005) included an option for a faster SuperDrive, Bluetooth and a better graphics card
