iBook (Dual USB)

Introduced: May 2001
Terminated: May 2002

Description

Outfitted with a completely new case design, the new iBook left the bright colors and clamshell design of the original iBooks in favor of a minimalist, sleek white case.  Running a G3 processor at 500Mhz, the new iBook had a 10Gb hard drive.  It was available with either a tray-loading CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, CD-RW or DVD/CD-RW.  It had more RAM, a VGA out, stereo speakers and a better screen.

History

The iBook G3 Dual USB marked the time when Apple started to feature translucent and white polycarbonate on the majority of its consumer oriented machines.  The slim design was widely praised.  The lowest end model was available for $1299 while the higher end, with a “Combo” DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive was $1799.

The iBook Dual USB got a minor revision with an 600Mhz processor and a 15Gb hard drive and slightly lower prices.

  • I want to buy a new iBook and I was wondering if you could answer me one question. Does this new version of the iBook come with a usb cable with ferrite or do I have to purchase one separately?
